Manitoba Centre for Health Policy 20th Anniversary Conference
March 8 & 9 (Fort Garry Hotel, Winnipeg MB)
The Manitoba Centre for Health Policy will celebrate its 20th year in 2010. In its short life, MCHP has been recognized for numerous groundbreaking achievements in population and public health research leading to evidence-informed health and social policy. To mark the occasion MCHP will host an international conference on March 8 and 9, 2010. The conference will bring together leaders in the field as well as highlight the past and current achievements of the research scientists who have helped set the gold standard in population-based research, knowledge translation, and data linkage. The founding directors will also be honoured for their vision, leadership, innovation, persistence, and remarkable achievements. The heart of this conference lies in creating new knowledge that informs health and social policy, therefore this conference will explore the connection between research, policy and practice, clinical care, and public health. To do so the conference is built around four plenary sessions which revolve around topics in Research, Knowledge Translation, and Data Linkage. Concurrent breakout sessions following three of the plenary sessions will allow participants to explore these topics in a more intimate setting. For more information, please visit the conference website.
Poster Presentation - The conference also features a poster session that allows participants to present a poster on their research. Submissions should focus on the nourishment and development of collaborative health research environments that explore the future of population-based health research, knowledge translation and data linkage and how it will contribute to policy development. Abstracts must be less than 250 words and clearly describe the purpose, approaches, and results of the work to be presented and should fall into one of the following categories:

  • Research using administrative databases focusing on population health, the determinants of health, or health policy.
